Your Impact

When the pandemic hit, the lockdowns and health restrictions had a profound impact on Special Olympics athletes. Their regular training and practice schedules were thrown into disarray, competitions postponed, and their in-person connections with friends, families, coaches and other athletes were put on hold.  Since then however, athletes have shown their resiliency and perseverance as they have found new ways to maintain their connections to each other and continue to stay healthy at home. From at-home workouts and Zoom practices with their teammates, walking challenges and Virtual Games, to online cooking classes and more, Special Olympics athletes have accepted the challenges posed by the pandemic and are stronger now for it.

Despite these virtual programs, athletes are eager and anxious to be able to return to their in-person sports and programs once again, and they need your support now more than ever. As communities slowly start to make a safe return to sports, your support will be pivotal in ensuring that every athlete can make it back to the playing field and not be left behind!
